Early 1974, the Town of Spaniard’s Bay and some of its concerned citizens began planning for the formation of a volunteer fire department to protect the lives and property of the community. After much planning and determination, the first recorded meeting was held on 01 December 1974. At this meeting, the department was formed and from there, the work and dedication began. Today’s department consists of 30 members who devote their time and training to our community 24 hours a day, 7 days and week, 365 days a year.

Our first-response fire fighting equipment has grown substantially in the last 30 years, and constant fund-raising efforts must be maintained in order to keep up to the demand of this life saving equipment. Our team of volunteer firefighters are up to the challenge and invite you to drop by the Fire Hall when the doors are open for a visit. We will be glad to show you around.

The Fireman’s Prayer

When I am called to duty, God,

Where ever flames may rage

Give me the strength to save some life,

Whatever be its age.

Help me embrace a little child

Before it is too late;

Or save an older person from

The horror of that fate.

Enable me to be alert,

And hear the weakest shout,

And quickly and efficiently

To put the fire out.

I want to fill my calling and

To give the best in me;

To guard my every neighbor and

Protect his property

And if, according to your will

I have to give my life;

Please bless with your protecting hand

My children and my wife.
